Custody Movie Story:
Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) is a sincere police constable who is in love with Revathi (Krithi Shetty). The film shows the life of Shiva in a village near Rajahmundry in the 1990s. A gangster, Raju (Arvind Swami), was taken into custody for the crimes he had committed and had to be taken to court. Meanwhile, some other gang tries to kill Raju and constable Shiva protects him from them. This run is joined by Revathi who elopes from her marriage which was fixed with Vennela Kishore.
Custody Movie Review:
Set in the 1990s, Custody is an action-packed story of a cop Shiva helping a wanted criminal, Raju. The film starts with the lead actors’ love story proceeding to the main plot. The female lead also has equal importance in the plot line, not just for the parts of the film. There are some interesting chases in the film. The interval bang of the film creates suspense in the second part.
The songs and the music of the film were very good which added to the experience of the film. The narration and cinematography of the film were well executed. Also, the actors delivered near-life-like performances.
Performances:
Naga Chaitanya is appearing in a full-length cop role in Custody for the first time. However, the action and sincere avatar of Naga Chaitanya was so real and convincing. Also, this features him in an action role after his previous feel-good film, Thank You in Telugu. He proved again that he is a great performer when it comes to expressing all the emotions. This film also has a love track, which was done with ease by the actor. The police theme song and duet song were well performed by Naga Chaitanya with grace in his dance moves.
Krithi Shetty is the female lead in this film, playing Revathi, the love interest of Shiva. She isn’t just confined to the love story in this film but also travels in the main plot along with Naga Chaitanya and Arvind Swami. This is the first time the actress has played such a role, and she did a good job.
Arvind Swami was introduced again as a villain after a gap between films. His role in Dhruva was more sophisticated and intellectual. Whereas he, as Raju in this film, was a wanted gangster.
All the other actors playing important roles, like Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj, and Vennela Kishore, were very good on screen and had a direct connection to the main plot.
Technicalities:
Venkat Prabhu is a well-known Tamil director who is also popular in Telugu for his storytelling. His films until now have been engaging with an interesting plot line. Custody comes into the same category with a packed screenplay. The director has successfully portrayed a cat-and-mouse race with good chase scenes. It seems to be an ordinary story, but it has an interesting narrative.
Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja have done a very good job of adding interest to the film. The background score was well-composed to match the narrative of the film.
Cinematographer SR Kathir‘s camera work has to be appreciated. The 1990s period where the film was set was realistic on the screen. Venkat Raajen‘s editing is good.
End Note:
Custody is a very engrossing story that has some good chase and action sequences. This film is entertaining in all aspects and is a must-watch for everyone.
