Shaakuntalam is a mythological romantic drama that was released in theatres on April 14, 2023. This Telugu language film is an adaptation of Abhijnanasakuntalam, an epic Indian play written by Kalidasa. The film stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the titular role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as King Dushyanta. Shaakuntalam is termed as Mythology for Millenials by the makers of the film. Shaakuntalam is directed by Gunasekhar. Neelima Guna and Dil Raju produced the film under the banners of Gunaa Teamworks and Sri Venkateswara Creations. Mani Sharma composed the music for the film. Sekhar V Joseph is the cinematographer, and Prawin Pudi is the editor for the film.
