Tollywood is an ocean of talent, with several artists making their debut every year. Along with encouraging new talents, Tollywood has also been giving opportunities to star kids as child artists. They are a few star kids who have been successful in their careers after making their Tollywood debut.
Allu Arha (Shaakuntalam)
Daughter of the Icon Star Allu Arjun, Allu Arha made her debut with the recent film Shaakuntalam. Allu Arha was six years old when she shone on screen in the roles of Bharata, Son of Shakuntala (Samantha), and King Dushyanta (Dev Mohan). She has been receiving a lot of appreciation for her role and dialogues in Telugu.
Nandamuri Harikrishna (Sri Krishnavataram)
Nandamuri Harikrishna was the fourth son of the late N T Rama Rao and Nandamuri Basavatarakam. He made his debut as a child artist through N T Rama Rao’s film Sri Krishnavataram, which came out in 1967. He played the role of Bala Krishna in this film. Harikrishna was 11 years old when he appeared on big screens.
Akkineni Nagarjuna (Velugu Needalu)
Akkineni Nagarjuna is the son of Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna. He was just one year old when he appeared on screen with Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Savitri. He appeared in the 1961 released film Velugu Needalu. His debut as a lead actor was with the film Vikram in 1986.
Nandamuri Balakrishna (Tatamma Kala)
Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna is one of the 12 children of the late N T Rama Rao and Nandamuri Basavatarakam. He made his debut at the age of 14 through N T Rama Rao’s film Tatamma Kala. This film came out in 1974. His debut as a lead actor came after 10 years with the film Sahasame Jeevitham.
Mahesh Babu (Needa)
Mahesh Babu is one of the actors who has made a lot of films as a child actor. He is the son of Superstar Krishna and Indira Devi. He made his debut with Needa, which came out in 1979. Mahesh Babu was just 4 years old while filming this movie. Raja Kumarudu (1999) marked his lead actor debut film.
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram (Bala Gopaludu)
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is the son of Nandamuri Harikrishna and Lakshmi. He is now one of the actors who makes versatile stories. He made his debut at the age of 11 with Nandamuri Balakrishna and Suhasini’s film Bala Gopaludu, which was released in 1989. In 2003, he made his debut as a lead actor with Toli Choopulone.
N. T. Rama Rao Jr. (Brahmarshi Vishwamitra)
N T Rama Rao Jr. is the son of Nandamuri Harikrishna and Shalini. He made his acting debut at the age of 7 with the film Brahmarshi Vishwamitra (1991). He played the role of Bharata in this film. This film has a star cast including N T Rama Rao and Nandamuri Balakrishna. 2001 release Ninnu Choodalani was his debut as a lead actor.
Manchu Manoj (Major Chandrakanth)
Major Chandrakanth is a 1993 Telugu film which has the star cast of N T Rama Rao, Mohan Babu, and others. Manchu Manoj, the youngest son of Mohan Babu made his debut with this film. He was 9 years old when he shared the screen with his father. He made his debut with Donga Dongadi as a lead actor in 2004.
Akkineni Akhil (Sisindri)
Sisindri came out in 1995 and was Akhil’s debut film as a child artist. This might be one of the few films which had a full length child artist role. This movie was filmed while Akhil was just one year old. Akhil is the son of Akkineni Nagarjuna and Amala. He recently made his debut as a lead actor with the film Akhil in 2015.
Gautham Krishna (1: Nenokkadine)
Gautham is the son of Superstar Mahesh Babu and actress Namrata Shirodkar. He has appeared in this film in the Younger version of Mahesh Babu’s role in 1: Nenokkadine which came out in 2014. He was 6 years old when he appeared in this film.
Mahadhan (Raja the Great)
Mahadhan is the son of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and Kalyani. Mahadhan was 11 years old when he appeared in the role of the Younger version of Raja (Ravi Teja) in the film Raja the Great. Raja the Great was released in 2017.
