Kamal Hasaan And Indian 2 team Pay 1 Crore To The Deceased Victims In The Crane Accident

Kamal Hasaan and the makers of the film Indian 2,  Lyca Productions, on Thursday (August 6,) handed over Rs. 4 crores to the families of the deceased following the horrific crane accident that happened on the sets of Indian 2 in February.  This accident took the lives of three people and injured 12 members.

The team of Indian 2 met the families of the deceased and issued them a cheque of Rs. 1 crore each to the victims.  Assistant Director Krishna, Art Assistant Chandran and Production Assistant Madhu, were killed after a crane crashed to the ground at EVP Studios.

Kamal Hasaan said in the press meet, “The director and I were also present at the spot. It could have happened to anyone of us.  We have a bigger responsibility for preventing such accidents in the future.  A week after the accident, we all met to discuss what we can do about this. But, due to the COVID, we were unable to meet again (sic.)”

The incident not only put the film’s shoot on a halt but also brought differences between the producers and the lead actor of the film, Kamal Haasan.  Few rumours also stated about the film being shelved but, the makers denied these rumours eventually.

Indian 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster film Indian, which was released in 1996.  Touted to be a political thriller, the film also features Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Vivekh in pivotal roles.  The makers, who have completed 60 per cent of the film’s shoot, will resume work once on going Corona situation get back to normal.
