“Love Story” Telugu Movie Review:
Story:
Revanth (Naga Chaitanya) is a youngster who wants to set up his own business while running a Zumba class for the ladies in his locality. Mounika (Sai Pallavi) is an engineering graduate who desires to work as a software engineer to escape the traps of her village and be free in the city. Sparks fly when both of them cross paths. Revanth sees an opportunity when he witnesses the magic in Sai Pallavi’s dance and they both set out to start their own business. However, fate intervenes when Mounika’s family is against the relationship because of their preset notions of caste differences and patriarchal values. How Revanth and Mounika overcome this forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Naga Chaitanya puts forth his career best performance as Revanth. He stays true to the character and delivers a performance that will be cherished forever. His body language, his Telangana dialect and his range of emotions on display brought Revanth to life. Sai Pallavi was at her usual best and complemented Naga Chaitanya with an equally impressive performance. Sekhar Kammula’s brilliant writing comes to the forefront as he deals with sensitive issues such as caste descrimination and gender equality. The remaining support cast namely Rajiv Kanakala, Easwari Rao and Uttej justify their roles.
Highlights:
Naga Chaitanya’s portrayal of Revanth is undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of the movie. His chemistry with Sai Pallavi is electric and will leave us wanting for more. Sekhar Kammula’s realistic depiction of the world the story is set in makes it believable. Pawan Ch’s music is the backbone of the movie with not just the chartbuster songs but also the flowing background score.
Verdict:
The first half of Love Story carries the magical feeling of love as well as showcases the never ending struggles of the lower middle class. The second half is where the story gets intense. The writing and the performances will make sure we question the society and the issues plaguing it. Love story will take you through the emotional rollercoaster journey of Revanth and Mounika without deviating anywhere. Head over to your nearest theatres to watch this romantic drama and make sure you carry some tissues as it will get emotional.
