Jeethu Joseph who directed the Malayalam version is at the helm of the Telugu version too. Starring Victory Venkatesh and Meena in the lead roles, Drushyam 2 deals with the aftermath of part 1. “Drushyam 2” Telugu Movie Review:
Story:
Drushyam 2 revolves around the family of Rambabu who are still suspected for the homicide of Varun, son of the Inspector General of Police. 6 years after the crime, the layers are slowly peeled as the story progresses. Everything is questioned once again and Rambabu finds himself caught red handed as the corpse is retrieved by the cops. All the clues come together and the truth slowly unravels. How Rambabu emerges inculpable even after the odds are stacked against him forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Venkatesh hits it out of the park as Rambabu once again. His nuanced comedy as a middle aged man who has to keep his family together despite all that is unraveling around them makes you root for his character. Meena, Kruthika and Esther Anil play their parts earnestly. Sampath Raj as the Inspector General, Satyam Rajesh, Shafi, Naresh and Nadiya in the supporting roles deliver impactful performances.
Turning Point :
Though Drushyam 2 is an action drama with a lot of twists and turns, the real turning point is when Rambabu takes it upon himself to save his family once again after being taken into custody
Highlights:
It is very rare that a sequel lives up to the original and the man at the helm of everything, Jeethu Joseph has indeed weaved an impossible yarn. His storytelling is true and rooted in reality which makes it the biggest highlight of the movie. Venkatesh’s single man show from the pre climax stands out in the film.
Verdict:
Drushyam 2 takes time to set the premise by establishing new characters into what has already been a complex story from the beginning. The movie does not deviate anymore when the suspense is out of the bag and pivots into a much more engaging tale. The background score could have been better to make the screenplay engaging and impactful in a few scenes. Overall, Drushyam 2 is the perfect sequel to a tightly bound original movie which will blow your socks off. So, grab the popcorn and enjoy watching Drushyam 2 on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video with your family.
