The musical genius, AR Rahman, has revealed that he has used artificial intelligence to bring back the voices of late singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed for the song ‘Thimiri Yezhuda’, from the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lal Salaam’.
“The mesmerizing voices of Bamba Bakya & Shahul Hameed in Thimiri Yezhuda from Lal Salaam made possible by AI voice models. This marks the first time in the industry that a late legend’s voice has been brought back to life,” a music company, earlier wrote on Twitter.
AR Rahman emphasized, quoting the same tweet, that he had first asked the families of the deceased artists for permission before employing artificial intelligence to recreate their sounds. He went on to say that in addition, he had paid the late singer’s families reasonable compensation for leveraging their voice algorithms.
“We took permission from their families and sent deserving remuneration for using their voice algorithms ..technology is not a threat and a nuisance if we use it right”, Rahman’s tweet reads.
