Shaakuntalam is an upcoming Telugu mythological film, starring Samantha Akkineni in the lead role. The film is directed by Gunasekhar, who is popularly known for the blockbuster women centric mythological film, Rudhramadevi. Shaakuntalam has been creating a good buzz, ever since it was announced. On Sunday, the makers announced the details about the male lead actor of the film.
Turning all the rumours true, Malayalam actor Dev Mohan, who recently made an impressive debut with Malayalam actor Sufiyum Sujatayum, was roped in as the lead actor. Dev will play the role of Dushyant and Samantha will play the role of Shakuntala in Shaakuntalam. Samantha Akkineni who is headlining the mythological drama shared the theme poster of Dev on social media and welcomed him on board. She wrote “Here’s introducing our Prince Charming … DUSHYANT @ActorDevMohan (sic.)“

Shaakuntalam is an epic love story of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, the daughter of sage Vishwamitra and the heavenly Apsara Menaka. The film will be bankrolled by Neelima Guna under the Gunaa Teamworks banner. National Award winning costume designer Neeta Lulla is supervising the costumes for Shaakuntalam. Mani Sharma will be composing music.
The post production formalities of the pan Indian project are in full swing and a couple of massive sets have been prepared to shoot. The shooting of Shaakuntalam will reportedly kick off from March 20, 2021, in Hyderabad.
