Nandamuri Balakrishna along with being an intense actor and performer is also a great philanthropist. He is the chairman of one of the biggest cancer hospitals, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital. This hopital is founded and named by Sr NTR after his wife on her wish to help provide awareness and treatment to people who are suffering from different types of cancer. This hospital is an non-profitable institute which has been treating the patients for affordable prices with high end technical facilities.
Today, the hospital team has celebrated the institute’s 23rd Foundation Day. This event was graced by the chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna and also a few other famous personalities have attended as chief guests. This includes actress and to-be doctor Sreeleela, Olympic winner athlete P V Sindhu, and cricketer Pranavi Chandra. They have inaugurated some of the cancer treating top technical and high end medical infrastructure equipment at the Basavatarakam. This includes a PET-CT scan machine, Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT), and an advanced linear accelerator (LNAC). With these new added facilities the hospital ensures best treatment for the cancer patients just like they have been delivering for the past 22 years.
On this occasion, Nandamuri Balakrishna interacted with the press and thanked everyone who has been supporting the hospital through its journey. He said that when they had the plans about establishing the hospital there was very little awareness about the illness among the people which has now changed. He thanked every doctor, nurse, and non-medical staff working for a better future of the patients who are suffering from cancer. On the professional front, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Sreeleela are together working for a film Bhagavanth Kesari. Anil Ravipudi is the director and the film features Kajal Aggarwal in the female lead role opposite Balakrishna.
