Krish Jagarlamudi’s directorial Kondapolam is a unique movie depicting a man’s victory over his fears and inhibitions. It can be termed as man versus wild story, a genre which is seldom explored. The film is an adaptation of the Telugu writer Sannapureddy Venkat Ram Reddy novel of the same name. It introduces the audiences to another world and a lesser known rural practice – Kondapolam.
Kondapolam could be termed as the Telugu counterpart of Jungle book. The movie was a true visual and musical feast for movie goers. It teaches life lessons in the form of a simple story. Any person can correlate their life and experiences with the scenes and sequences from the movie.
#KondaPolam on #AmazonPrimeVideo is a wonderful watch. A film with a lot of heart within the framework of a commercial entertainer, it showcases the tough lives of a group of shepherds. Kudos to the whole team.

Vaisshnav Tej as protagonist Kataru Ravindra Yadav belongs to a shepherd family. He is an engineering graduate seeking a well paying job. Though the only educated youngster from his native place, he is jobless for four years. Unexpected circumstances make him reluctant to pursue his job search. But as an educated person, he somehow feels like an outsider in his own village. This young man accompanies his father to Nallamala forest to help him with konda polam.

The practice of Kondapolam means shepherds venturing into the woods to find food and water for their cattle in the summer season during periods of drought. Set in the flimsy Rayalaseema region, in Nallamala forest there is none other than a tiger as the antagonist in the movie, who represents another invisible villain- Ravindra’s inhibition and fear.
Obulamma portrayed by Rakul Preet Singh delivers a standout performance which sets herself apart from routine roles. She may be an uneducated peasant but knows the world that she is living in. She knows not just about the herd but everything about the forest, and turns out to be the Guru of Ravindra.
#kondapolam one of the finest movies I’ve seen recently. Outstanding! Marvelous !! Exceptional!!! I’m really short of words to express my feelings. 👌👏👏 @DirKrish @VaishnavTej_ @Rakulpreet

When the protagonist ventures deep in the forest, he has to face many threats in the form of wild animals and smugglers, which make for the rest of the story. He draws inspiration and strength from the experiences of his 40-day Kondapolam and applies the strategies in clearing the UPSC exam. In other words, the forest flick draws comparison between the struggle for survival in the jungle to the survival in concrete jungles.
The scenes like hero’s father (Gopichand) jumping with joy and smearing the mud on him caused by the first rain and elderly grandfather (played by veteran actor Kota Srinivas Rao after a long time) motivating Ravindra directly hit the hearts of the audiences.
A one very rare good Telugu movie in recent times. Story of a young man discovering his true self of confidence and joy in pursuing goals with enormous determination! Weaved in a message too to save forests!
🙏🙏 @DirKrish & all the amazing actors & staff.

Venkata Rami Reddy has also penned the dialogues for the film, for an added authenticity. M M Keeravani’s music and V S Gnanashekhar’s cinematography turned the well-staged picture into an epic. If you are waiting for a movie with a unique story all along then Kondapolam is the right choice. The movie is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime now.
