Nidhhi Agerwal is a fresh face in Tollywood and has already made her mark, and signalled that she is here to stay for a long time. Having made her debut in Bollywood with Munna Michael, Nidhhi Agerwal found success in Tollywood. Nidhhi’s first two films in Tollywood were with the Akkineni brothers Naga Chaitanya and Akhil in the movies Savyasachi and Mr. Majnu, respectively. However, Nidhhi shot into the limelight with the superhit movie iSmart Shankar in which she plays the role of a scientist.
Telugu Filmnagar caught up with Nidhhi Agerwal and in this exclusive chat, the pretty actress talks about her upcoming movie with Ashok Galla, her pets and how she deals with social media trolls. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:
iSmart Shankar was a superhit movie. How would you describe the opportunities which came after the movie?
iSmart Shankar was a really big hit, it was a double blockbuster. Finally I am happy that I am a part of the 100 crore club as they say. The opportunities have been really really nice. I have not done a mass film like this before, so a whole section of the audience has seen me and all the love I get from them, it feels amazing. Even the industry has really warmed up to me, I love that.
Your next movie is with Ashok Galla, could you elaborate on what your character is in the movie?
My character is very interesting, it is a professional working girl. I am doing this particular profession that I have done before. It is really nice, it is very different, it is a good energetic character and I love my character in that film.
The movie has a recreation of superstar Krishna’s superhit song Jumbare. How did it feel to work on the song?
Oh, it was amazing, I mean you guys have seen a glimpse of it and it was really really nice. I mean there is a special surprise also that you will see in the song. I just cannot wait for you guys to see it.

How has the entire COVID-19 scenario and the lockdown been for you?
So, it’s been really long, I mean it’s been 4 months that we have all been at home. Everyday, I try to work on the things that I do, I try and get better at everything that I already know or don’t know. I am learning Telugu for example so that it is just easier for me so that I don’t need to stress about remembering the lines and all of that. I am doing a lot of other things as well but yeah, some days have been tough. I am a pretty positive person and usually have a good positive outlook and now I hear some news about a possible vaccination (COVID-19) in the works. So I am really looking forward to that.
What did you do during the lockdown to keep yourself occupied?
So yeah, I watched lots and lots of TV shows and I watched a lot of movies. I slept a lot and ate a lot of food. I also did lots of yoga and lots of meditation, took very long baths, played with my dogs a lot. I learnt a couple of things as well, I did an online course with the New York Film Academy, been continuing my dance classes, learning Telugu, so yeah, I am doing lots of things to keep myself occupied.
Who are the actors you would like to work most with from Tollywood and why?
Oh my God! There are so many talented actors and actresses in Tollywood and I would really like to work with a lot of them. You know I just started and I am still very very new, so I really like to work with everyone.
Your pets too receive a lot of love on social media from fans. Tell us about them.
Oh yeah, absolutely they do. I have been posting some of their photos and they are so amazing. They have made this lockdown so much nicer for me and yes they do receive a lot of love and it is very very kind of people. Right now at home these two dogs are the most important, our whole day revolves around them.
One possession of yours that you cannot stay without in a day.
My phone! It has everything!
What do you have to say about social media trolls these days?
Umm, I think they are just jobless people. I mean they are just sitting at home. Right now, everyone is doing that, but they are just jobless people sitting at home who have some issues in their life which is why they are spreading negativity and taking out hatred on other people. I choose to block them out most of the time, I don’t really see it so it does not really bother me.
