Displaying an experience of life on the big screen is no child’s play, it requires sheer determination and collaboration of multiple talents. The crucial performance from an actor takes shape only with a perfect background. Crafting an art like the original matching the aesthetics is pure talent. Avinash Kolla is the man of such talent. He is a popular art director in Tollywood. After working on the classic masterpiece Mahanati (2018,) he is back in business for the much awaited popular movies Major and Shyam Singha Roy.
Avinash Kolla in a recent media interaction shared his experience of working for the two main projects Major and Shyam Singha Roy. Talking about Major, he said “ Adivi Sesh explained the importance of the set and the emotion it holds. His level of detailing in the script opened a new view. The Hotel Taj Mahal set for Major was mandatory as we did not have the permission to shoot inside. Our team stayed four days in the hotel doing research. We covered every minute detail in the place. After all the needed research, we gathered a team of 500 workers and built the set in 10 days. Even though Hotel Taj Mahal set was built in Bollywood earlier, a comprehensive one like Major is the first time. We replicated all the important artifacts in the hotel to bring out the authenticity (sic.)”
Avinash Kolla is also roped in as the Art director for Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy. The film is an upcoming supernatural thriller set in the backdrop of Kolkata, the cultural capital of India. Sharing his experience about Shyam Singha Roy, Avinash said “After researching in and around Kolkata for four months, we understood the architectural style of Kolkata. To bring out the authentic look, we bought workers from Kolkata and built a set matching the 1960s backdrop. The architecture of Kolkata is different. Unlike us they use clay to build temples, homes and office spaces which is unique (sic.)”

Major is an upcoming biographical film of the Army officer Sandeep Unnikrishnan who valiantly saved 14 people in the 2008 Mumbai Terror Attacks and died during the ordeal. The film features Adivi Sesh and Saiee Manjrekar in the lead roles. Shyam Singha Roy is a supernatural period drama featuring Nani, Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles.
