Actor Priyadarshi plays a lawyer in Court, which hits the cinemas on March 14th. Ahead of its release, in a chit-chat with the media, the actor spoke about the movie’s highlights.
“It was during the making of Hi Nanna in Goa that I talked about Ram Jagadeesh’s story with Nani ‘anna’. He showed interest in full narration. After listening to the entire story, he felt that I should play the lawyer’s role. It was my wish, too. In fact, I had beseeched with the writer-director to cast me in the role,” Priyadarshi says.
Known for leading roles in films like Balagam and Mallesham, Priyadarshi says that essaying the role of a lawyer was a challenge. “Usually, well-established artists are chosen for such roles. But when the story was completed, I fell in love with the character and wanted to do it,” the Jathi Ratnalu actor says.
Court, telling the story of a juvenile accused, involved a lot of homework and study. Even the Sandhya Theatre stampede case did have its influences. “The writer-director made a study of the POCSO Act provisions. He also consulted lawyers who have previously argued such cases,” Priyadarshi says. The actor also observed lawyers and advocates to get into the skin of his character.
Priyadarshi awaits the release of Sarangapani Jathakam in April. He is also doing a film titled Premante. Another film, produced by Geetha Arts, is also in the works.
