It is tough to spend a day without tumbling across words like Lockdown, Cases, Health etc., these days thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic which has thrown the whole world into this unexpected situation. Businesses are hurt, revenues have dipped, film releases have halted, manufacturing numbers have gone down and many other industries have taken a hit very badly. Being in lockdown for more than 50 days, entrepreneurs and self-employed people are now finding ways to get back up on their feet with the help of some innovative ways.
And the entertainment industry is no different. It has taken a hit, too! Many films await the end of this troublesome situation which has halted the release of a huge volume of films. However, there seems to be a new approach for many of these filmmakers. Looking at the criticality of the situation, few big films have decided to go the OTT way and release the film on digital platforms which will help them beat some losses that may be incurred due to wait.

Leading the way in this new path is digital giant Amazon Prime Video who has now signed deals with various producers in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin, Jyotika’s Ponmagan Vandaal, Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Gulabo Sitabo, Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi, Kannada film LAW starring Ragini Chandran and Jayasurya-Aditi Rao Hydari starrer Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujatayum are now heading this way, and trying to minimize the wait period to move on in their line of business. Amazon Prime Video is now the first digital platform to premiere a theatrically unreleased feature film despite facing stiff competition from other OTTs in the business. Not only is Amazon Prime Video leaving filmmakers happy with the lucrative offers, but also creating an opportunity for other digital platform entities like YouTube entertainment channels, portals and others to get back up on their feet with some concrete content on hand to be worked on. Reviews, interviews, fan reactions etc will all be back now with films releasing on the OTT platform which pumps a fresh volume of blood into the world of entertainment.
Isn’t this a great news amidst all the chaos that we are witnessing presently? It sure is! Brace up for some terrific content that’s coming up soon on Amazon Prime Video.
