Renowned performers from all around the world gathered at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, for the 66th annual Grammy Awards.
The album “This Moment,” produced by the Indian fusion group Shakti, led by renowned musician Shankar Mahadevan, was the event’s standout winner, winning the Grammy for Best Global Music Album.

Shankar Mahadevan gave Zakir Hussain and John McLaughlin credit for his first Grammy victory. In a recent interview with the media, the iconic singer, who referred to them as the “pioneers of the concept fusion,” also talked about his journey leading up to the historic victory.

As an inspiration for other musicians wishing to embark on their own cross-cultural musical adventures, Shakti brought together musicians from the Eastern and Western regions in a transnational collaboration never seen before. This helped shape the paradigm for contemporary World Music.
Prominent artists including John McLaughlin, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, and V. Selvaganesh are part of the ensemble.
