Blockbuster releases towards the end of the year, such as “Hi Nanna”, “Animal” and “Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire,” had a tremendous impact on the Indian box office and raised the bar for incoming films, ensuring that 2023 concluded on a high note.
With a number of high-profile films on its slate, 2024 got off to a respectable start, with a few blockbusters in the first three months of the year.
January 2024 (Sankranthi 2024):
The movie ‘Sarkaru Noukari’, a message-driven film with renowned singer Sunitha’s son Akash as the hero, first came out in January.
There was a lot of competition in January because Telugu’s Sankranthi is one of the busiest movie seasons, with many films vying for attention at the box office.
The beginning of the Sankranthi season coincided with the release of Teja Sajja’s HanuMan and Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Karam, which both debuted on January 12. Both movies impressed the target audience, yielding good results.
Prasanth Varma’s directorial HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, which grossed a ton of money at the box office and gained a lot of popularity, was a big hit.
The Sailesh Kolanu-directed Victory Venkatesh film “Saindhav” opened on January 13, and engaged the viewers well. King Nagarjuna’s film Naa Saami Ranga, which was released on January 14, was a respectable hit because it fit the festival atmosphere with multiple actors and a flamboyant rural backdrop story.
February 2024:
A few low-budget films like Ambajipeta Marriage Band, Sundaram Master, and Ooru Peru Bhairavakona helped February get off to a great start. Of them, Ooru Peru Bhairavakona received a fair amount of attention. Yatra-2, which starred Mammootty and Jiiva, was a decent biographical movie, satisfying the target audience.
On February 9, Ravi Teja’s Eagle debuted to a roaring reception, interpreting good collections from theaters.
March 2024:
“Operation Valentine,” starring Varun Tej gained him so much attention. Sree Vishnu’s Om Bheem Bush, which debuted without any expectations yet impressed the audience, resulting in respectable collections, Vishwak Sen’s “Gaami” debuted on March 8 and generated decent reviews. The movie Bhimaa, starring Gopi Chand, also turned out to be a decent movie.
‘Tillu Square’ by Siddhu Jonnalagadda made a huge impression when it debuted on March 29. The film is making a lot of money at the box office and is doing well.
The overall quarterly reports depict a decent start for the year, with back-to-back releases.
