With his films “Yevade Subramanyam” and “Mahanati,” filmmaker Nag Ashwin won the hearts of the Telugu audience. Currently, he is collaborating with Prabhas on the upcoming massive mytho-sci-fi film “Kalki 2898 AD.” With a cast that includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and others, the film is presently under production.
Recently, actor-producer Rana Daggubati and director Nag Ashwin visited the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon. During his visit, Nag Ashwin revealed some intriguing information about his next movie, Kalki 2898 AD, which has amplified the buzz around the movie.
When asked to discuss the magnificence of “Kalki 2898 AD,” Nag unexpectedly opened out, saying, “The movie begins with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD.”
It covers a timeline of 6000 years. We attempted to construct worlds, envisioning what they may resemble while maintaining Indian culture. We did not try to impose any ‘Blade Runner’ kind of aesthetic.
“6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed,” he added to further explain the chronology.
Although artificial intelligence (AI) has advanced to the point where creating these fantastical worlds is now simple, Nag Ashwin admitted he hasn’t used the technology personally but promised to give it a try “shortly.”
This upcoming epic movie is funded by C. Aswani Dutt under the renowned- Vyjayanthi Movies, while Santhosh Narayanan is in charge of the music composition. Kalki 2898 AD is slated for its grand global release on May 9, 2024.
