Mahi V Raghav, who directed ‘Yatra’, the biography of the Late Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, has come up with its sequel ‘Yatra 2. While Yatra featured Malayalam superstar Mammootty as YS Rajasekhar Reddy, it focused on his political era. ‘Yatra 2’, on the other hand, emphasizes YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rise as a people’s leader after his father’s untimely demise. Actor Jiiva plays YS Jagan in this biopic, while actress Ketaki Narayan portrays YS Jagan’s wife Bharathi.
Shiva Meka’s V Celluloids and Three Autumn Leaves have produced this movie together. Madhie is in charge of the cinematography, while the music is scored by Santosh Narayanan. Prominent actor Mahesh Manjrekar will be featured in a major role alongside Ketaki Narayan, Suzzane Bernet, and other well-known actors.
Yatra 2 Storyline:
Yatra 2 is a biographical film that focuses on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his political journey from 2009 to 2019. It mostly emphasizes how Jagan interacted with the public during his walkathon (Odarpu Yatra) after his father’s demise, and how strongly he emotionally bonded with them, which made him the ‘people’s leader’.
The movie Yatra 2 depicts the demise of YSR, the events that followed, how Jagan initiated the ‘Odarpu Yatra’ to comfort those left behind after his father’s death, and the repercussions of his choice.
The movie depicts the unfathomable love and support that YSR has received throughout the years. Following his tragic death, his son Jagan assumed leadership of the party. From then on, the film chronicles his political adversaries’ plot to falsely accuse him of corruption.
His follow-up chronicles the happenings of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of YSR, tracing his development into a leader of the people and exploring Andhra Pradesh’s political climate between 2009 and 2019.
Yatra 2 Movie Review:
A masterfully crafted political biography that chronicles YS Jagan’s ascent to prominence. The portrayal of actor Jiiva as the near-real-life YS Jagan is remarkable. Political scenarios have compelling narratives and are skillfully written. The movie does a good job of establishing the political scenarios in Andhra Pradesh by timing its music and background score with the storyline.
On-screen performances:
Malayalam actor Mammootty makes a lengthy appearance as YS Rajasekhar Reddy and the film takes a tragic turn after his abrupt, accidental demise. The backdrop for the start of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s political career is presented in the well-crafted narrative.
Actor Jiiva has outperformed everyone else in his portrayal as an aspiring politician. In addition, he does a fantastic job of conveying sorrowful times; his speech pattern, movements, and facial emotions are quite similar to those of YS Jagan, which gives the biopic a realistic sense.
Ketaki Narayan justifies her role well, while Mahesh Manjrekar, Suzanne Bernert, and others live up to expectations, in their respective roles.
Off-screen performances:
Mahi V Raghav’s analysis of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan’s ascent to prominence in politics, the political intrigues that surround him, and the events that follow are incredibly well-written and poignant. The director’s compelling screenplay and melancholy story successfully drew in the viewers.
One of the best parts is the way Santhosh Narayan’s music fits well into the story. All of the songs are well-written, taking into account the story’s biographical and political elements.
End Note: ‘Yatra 2’ is compelling, and Malayalam celebrity Mammootty gives a strong performance as YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Tamil actor Jiiva also lives up to the expectations. This poignant biography, directed by Mahi Raghav, skillfully captures the major events of AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s life following the untimely demise of his father.
