Mani Ratnam has had this movie in his head for more than two decades, and he eventually brought it to life on a grand scale, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated films in India. In a special event yesterday, the Ponniyin Selvan team launched the second song from the movie, Chola Chola, and director Mani Ratnam offered some fascinating details about the project. Mani Ratnam expressed his gratitude to SS Rajamouli for motivating him to create Ponniyin Selvan in a big way.

“I owe a lot of gratitude to SS Rajamouli for paving the road and inspiring me to believe that movies like Ponniyin Selvan could be made in India. Baahubali is the perfect example for this,” according to Mani Ratnam, who spoke about SS Rajamouli at the event yesterday.
The release date for Ponniyin Selvan is September 30th, 2022. The movie was jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The movie’s lead actors include Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Aishwerya Lekshmi. AR Rahman composed the music for the film.
