India is a land of many cultures. Music is always an inclusion to raise the standards of Indian culture. Many musical instruments and musical traditions were born in India. But unfortunately some of them are becoming extinct. One such musical instrument was Kinnera.
Born in the tribal area of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana, Kinnera was played by our ancestors to sing the stories of the heroes. Such a great culture was celebrated by the Kinnera. But now-a-days it has become extinct. There are very few Kinnera players left in the state of Telangana, most probably only one left and his name is Darshanam Mogulaiah, also known as Kinnera Mogulaiah.
Kinnera Mogulaiah was brought into the light by Tollywood star Pawan Kalyan. Pawan gave Mogulaiah a chance to sing in his recent film Bheemla Nayak. Mogulaiah performed and exposed his skills in the title song of Bheemla Nayak. Mogulaiah was thus known to the Telugu people. Kudos to Shri Konidela Pawan Kalyan.
Also, the Government of India recognised the skill of Mogulaiah and the lost glory of Kinnera players. Government of India facilitated Kinnera Mogulaiah with Padma Shri award. This was an honour to the rare talent Shri Darshanam Mogulauiah.
Now, the government of Telangana comes forward to congratulate and encourage Padma Shri Mogulaiah. K Chandrashekar Rao aka KCR, the chief minister of Telangana state met Kinnera Mogulaiah in Pragathi Bhavan and congratulated him on receiving Padma Shri award. Also, KCR allotted land to Mogulaiah for the construction of his house. He also announced to give Mogulaiah an amount of 1 crore rupees for the charges of the construction and others. This is a great gesture from the government of Telangana.
