Suriya is one of the most popular actors of South Indian film industries. Despite predominantly working in Tamil cinema, the actor enjoys a huge following in the Telugu states as well. His movies are often dubbed into Telugu and released. Suriya’s most recent release was Aakasam Nee Haddura.
This movie release which was originally going to be a theatrical one was postponed due to the first wave of the Coronavirus. The makers chose to release the movie digitally on the OTT platform Prime Video in November last year. The movie was dubbed into Telugu as well and became a massive hit in both Telugu and Tamil languages. In the latest, Suriya announced that he along with his wife Jyothika will be remaking the movie in Hindi.

The remake will also be directed by Sudha Kongara who directed the original and will be produced by Suriya under his banner 2D Entertainment, in association with Vikram Malhotra under the Abundantia Entertainment banner. Aakasam Nee Haddura was partly based on the life of G. R. Gopinath, the founder of Simplifly Deccan, India’s first low cost carrier. Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his anthology webseries Navarasa created by Mani Ratnam which will be released on Netflix. He is also working on a movie tentatively titled Suriya40 with the director Pandiraj.
