Ramayanam popularly known as Bala Ramayanam is a mythological drama released in 1996 which won the hearts of everyone in the country. Though there seems to be a drastic shift over the years with new genres rising, Telugu audience’ love for mythology remains unchanged as they still look back to the classic film Ramayanam to this day. Gunasekhar, the director of Ramayanam, amazingly executed this masterpiece on the big screen. Jr. NTR essayed the role of Lord Rama and a popular Bharatanatyam dancer Smitha Madhav appeared as Sita.
Exactly 24 years ago on this day, Ramayanam was released and bagged the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. Currently, Social media is rife with the hashtag #24YearsForBalaRamayanam, celebrating it’s release. With a cast of 3000 children of the age between 10 to 13 years, Ramayanam received nationwide recognition. Jr. NTR as Lord Rama and Smitha Madhav as Sita befitted the roles. Delivering an outstanding performance at a young age of 13 years, Jr. NTR was considered as a born actor.

Jr. NTR as a child artist rose to fame with Ramayanam and since then, he carved his place in Tollywood and got the title as the Young Tiger of Telugu cinema.
