There have been multiple speculations and rumours flying around in the industry about a possible remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam movie Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which will have Pawan Kalyan as the lead. The rumours have turned out to be true as an official confirmation came out yesterday that a Telugu remake starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati as the antagonist is indeed taking place.
The leading duo will reprise the roles played by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon, from the original. Rana Daggubati is likely to play Prithviraj Sukumaran’s role and Biju Menon’s will be played by Pawan Kalyan. However, there are strong indications and a buzz which suggests Samuthirakani will be playing the role of Rana’s father in the Telugu remake. Ranjith played the role of Prithiviraj Sukumaran’s father in Ayyappanum Koshiyum.

The Telugu remake of Ayyappanum Koshiyum will be helmed by Director Sagar Chandra of Appatlo Okadundevadu fame. Music director S.S. Thaman will be composing the tunes of the remake. Producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi will bankroll this massive project under Sithara Entertainments. The leading ladies for the Telugu remake are yet to be announced and will be done sometime in the near future. The pooja ceremony for the Pawan Kalyan starrer was formally completed yesterday in the presence of the director, producer and Pawan Kalyan.
Samuthirakani won accolades for his antagonist role in the superhit movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. He will also be seen as the antagonist in the upcoming Ravi teja starrer Krack and as Chandram Master in Aakashavani. Samuthirakani’s role in Ayyappanum Koshiyum Telugu remake would be highly pivotal to the plot of the remake considering the same importance of the role in the original. Samuthirankani will no doubt lend strength to the remake if the speculations become official.
