The Indian movie industry has been dealt its biggest blow as the legendary singer S.P. Balasubramanyam lost his life after a long fight with COVID-19 at the age of 74. The singer underwent treatment for almost 15 days in MGM hospital in Chennai and today at 1:05, SPB took his last breath. The entire nation and especially the South Indian states, where SPB is hugely popular is in a state of shock over the news of his demise.
S.P. Balasubrahmanyam was considered one of the greatest playback singers and has crooned over 40,000 songs in languages like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam in a career span of five decades. He garnered six National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer for his works in four different languages and is also a proud recipient of the highest civilian award like the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan, from the Government of India.
Here are few tweets by South celebs who are deep grief over the musical maestro’s death:
Unable to process the fact that #SPBalasubramaniam garu is no more. Nothing will ever come close to that soulful voice of his. Rest in peace sir. Your legacy will live on. Heartfelt condolences and strength to the family 🙏
