Daggubati Venkatesh starrer Narappa is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Asuran, which starred Dhanush in the lead role. Asuran is a superhit intense movie with some gritty and rustic acting performances and now it is being remade in Telugu. When a remake was announced to star Daggubati Venkatesh in the titular role, fans went into a tizzy.
The film has completed a major chunk of shooting in Rayalaseema and other locations before the lockdown was issued. According to the latest reports, the shoot will begin in October. If everything goes as planned the film will resume shooting in October with proper sanitation and safety precautions. The report further added that Venkatesh is hoping to call it a wrap in a single schedule. However, there is no official confirmation regarding it yet.

The Telugu remake will see Venkatesh reprise the role Dhanush played in the original, Narappa an aging farmer. While Priyamani plays the role of his wife Sundaramma in the film. The Telugu remake is directed by Srikanth Addala. It is bankrolled by Kalaippuli S Thanu and Daggubati Suresh Babu under the banner of Suresh Productions. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Karthik Rathnam, Murali Sharma and Sampath Raj in crucial roles. The film will have music composed by Mani Sharma, while Shyam K Naidu is cranking the camera.
