Prabhas is the only Pan Indian star in the country so far. While the whole world is confined at home dealing with the pandemic, Prabahs was on roll by announcing back to back films. After the first look of Radhe Shyam and Nag Ashwin’s project announcement with Deepika Padukone went viral on the internet, Prabhas announced another pan Indian film titled Adipurush. The film will be directed by Bollywood Director Om Raut of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior fame.
As soon as the movie’s motion poster was announced, everyone speculated it to be based on the Ramayana and Prabhas to be seen as Lord Ram. Looks the speculations turned out to be true, as Director Om Raut confirmed saying Prabhas is indeed playing “Prabhu Ram” in the film.
Speaking to Mid Day, a leading daily, about why he chose Prabhas for the film. Om Raut said, “I have seen him [as the lead] in my head, on my computer, in my script — if there is anybody who can play Prabhu Ram to perfection, it is Prabhas. As the biggest star in our country, he adds to the commercial value of the film. But more than that, he has a great combination of calmness and aggression. As the writer and director, that appealed to me (sic.)”
Om Raut further revealed the idea was pitched to Prabhas in the early months of the lockdown and that the superstar has been prepping for it for quite some time now. He also stated unlike his warrior persona in the Baahubali series, Prabhas will be more of an archer in Adipurush. “Prabhas is working on his transformation. He has to attain an archer’s physique, which is dramatically different from that of a warrior. We have begun consulting several experts. He will also begin learning archery soon (sic,)” said Om Raut

Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telugu while being dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and several international languages. The film is expected to go on to the floors in 2021 and will eye a 2022 release and will be made in 3D.
