One of the best Telugu films of 2019, Jersey, starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath as lead actors, and directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri was released in April. This film received a positive response from all over the nation and became a huge blockbuster.
Jersey had many sentimental moments and one such moment, which made the entire theatre emotional is where Nani’s character gets selected to play in the Ranji team and he goes to the railway station. Reportedly, it is said that Nani did not rehearse for this emotional scene.
Speaking to a leading daily about the appreciation this emotional scene received, Nani said, “I was just present and performed as per the instruction. There was no preparation for the scene in advance. This may be the reason why it came out quite well and struck many hearts (sic.)”
This film is about a cricketer who makes it to the Indian Cricket team after a lot of struggles to fulfill his son’s wish for a jersey, as a gift. Nani’s performance in the role of the cricketer was hugely appreciated, which made him included in the list of 100 greatest performances of the decade.
Recently, Jersey was selected for screening at the International Indian Toronto Film Festival, 2020. This film will be representing India on the 15th of August, Independence day.

Jersey is also being remade into Hindi with Gowtam Tinnanuri wielding the megaphone yet again. Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur will play the lead roles in the Hindi remake.
