Penguin is a thriller movie which stars National Award winning actress Keerthy Suresh as the lead. Penguin is directed by Eshvar Karthic who is making his debut as a director with this movie. The Keerthy Suresh starrer is finally being released on OTT platform for streaming.
Penguin was originally supposed to be released in theaters in the first week of May but the unfortunate imposition of nationwide lockdown by the central government meant that theaters and malls will be closed. There is also no clarity on when the movie theaters would open because they are places of mass gatherings of people which means it is a high risk area for COVID-19 spread. The lockdown has made many filmmakers consider a direct OTT release and premiere of movies which were supposed to be released during the lockdown. Penguin finally gets a release date for its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video and will be available for streaming on June 19th, 2020.

Produced by Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films, Penguin is touted to be a women-centric thriller. The title and the first look poster of the film were revealed on October 17, 2019, on Keerthy Suresh’s birthday. Keerthy Suresh will be seen playing the role of a pregnant woman in the film. Major portions of the movie were shot in the hill station city, Ooty. Keerthy Suresh is also busy with her next movie Miss India which is being directed by Narendra Nath and music is being composed by S. S. Thaman.
Meanwhile, the Mahanati star is waiting for the release of her Malayalam film, Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham, featuring Mohanlal in the lead role. The film is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar, the naval chief of the Zamorin of Calicut. Keerthy is also a part of Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film, Annaatthe, directed by Siruthai Siva.
