Puri Jagannath in recent history was dubbed as a man who is a spent force, after all his previous films, Paisa Vassol, Rogue and Mehbooba failed miserably at the box office.
But, now his collaboration with Ram Pothineni started to yield wonders with his recent movie, iSmart Shankar. The unofficial remake of the Kevin Costner movie, Criminal (2016) gave a new life to Puri Jagannath and Ram Pothineni to reinvent themselves.
The fact Puri himself produced the movie also added to the ambition of his, to bounce back in Tollywood.
It might be worth recollecting Puri had a solo hit in 2015 with Junior NTR’s Temper. Now, iSmart Shankar has brought back all his previous glory, of a director who revamps his heroes and their images totally.
iSmart Shankar has garnered the biggest opening to any Ram Pothineni movie, with the first day collection of 16 crores worldwide. With this fact, iSmart Shankar encouraged Puri Jagannath to announce a sequel to the movie, shortly.
