Cinegoers in India cannot forget actress Lakshmi who was the sensational Julie in the 1974 Malayalam film Chattakkari and its Hindi remake Julie (1975.) The actress won the National Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1977 drama Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal, as a young woman employee who starts a relationship with the same man who rapes her on a fateful day.
Now, the veteran actress is on a comeback spree in Tollywood, where she made her debut as a teenage girl in 1965, with the S.V. Ranga Rao directorial Bandhavyalu. The talented actress is fresh from the success of Oh! Baby (July 2019) and will be seen in two more ensemble films in this August.
The legend appears as the mother of Nagarjuna in Manmadhudu 2, which releases on August 9th and as a grandmother in Nani’s Gang Leader, which will release on August 30th, 2019.
It is heartening to see the actress adapt to the new generation and deliver hits with elan.
