June 27th, 2019 marks a black day in the history of Telugu cinema. Legendary actress-director Vijaya Nirmala passed away due to old age related problems at age 75. The Tamil Nadu born actress, whose ancestral roots belong to Narasaraopet in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, acted in some 200 odd movies in entirety, with a handful in Tamil and predominantly in Malayalam.
Many Tollywood celebrities, including her son actor Naresh, Chiranjeevi, Junior NTR, Sudheer Babu and Guna Sekhar, among many others shared their condolences on their social media pages, hailing the achievements of Vijaya Nirmala.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Jagan Mohan Reddy also conveyed their mourning for the lady who held command over her craft.
