Veteran director K. Raghavendra Rao, who was the nominated chairperson of Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi Channel (SVBC,) the flagship channel of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD,) resigned from his post. SVBC was started to propagate devotional content about Lord Venkateswara.
As a strong supporter of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its current chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Raghavendra Rao was nominated as the chairperson of SVBC, a post he held till the historic loss of the TDP at the just concluded 17th General Assembly Elections in Andhra Prades
As the TDP lost the mandate with Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy becoming the Chief Minister designate, all the TDP members who held posts in the TTD administration are one by one resigning.
However, Raghavendra Rao who recently turned 78, cited age related reasons for his stepping down as the chairman of SVBC.
