J. Mahendran, the man who made many magical and memorable movies in South Indian movie industry, breathed his last today. His son, John Mahendran, posted on his social media account stating, “DIRECTOR MAHENDRAN PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING.” J. Mahendran was admitted to Apollo Hospital on the 27th of March, 2019. According to sources, post his dialysis session, his health deteriorated and he was put on a ventilator.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning (the 2nd of April, 2019,) the director took his last breath. His remains will be laid at his residence from 10 A.M., onwards and the funeral proceedings will commence from 5 P.M.
Known for bringing many noted actors into the industry, the director is a guiding light and father figure to many in the Tamil industry, including Rajinikanth. Mr. Mahendran was recently seen in Petta, a Rajinikanth flick, which was a huge blockbuster. He was also seen in Atharvaa Murali’s Boomerang, which was released very recently. J. Mahendran’s love for art and cinema drew him closer to the industry and gave him the opportunity to express his thoughts and ideas freely.
This day, the Tamil industry lost one of the most talented and irreplaceable men, who worked relentlessly for the betterment of the Tamil film industry. Our hearts reach out to all those who are grieving the loss of this great man.
Rest in peace, J. Mahendran Sir.
Our deepest and sincerest condolences to his friends and family.
