The actor shared a wealth of recollections from his successful career in an exclusive interview with The Telugu Filmnagar, which he gave as he celebrated the same. Speaking about a variety of subjects, Naresh expresses his happiness about working on films such as “Jamba Lakidi Pamba” and talks about his closer relationship with director EVV Satyanarayana.
“EVV Satyanarayana and I developed a very close bond. He called and drove to my shooting location in Tirupati, I recall, during the height of my career.” Naresh talks about Jamba Lakidi Pamba. “He narrated this script, and I found it so novel that I agreed to act.”
Thus, script development was in progress when EVV came up with the idea for the movie’s title, “Reverse Gear.” One day, out of the blue, he trunk-called me and said, “It’s Jamba Lakidi Pamba.”
I told him that I was confused and didn’t know what the title meant. The movie title ‘Jamba Lakidi Pamba’ piqued my curiosity when I chatted with him at a later time.
The 1992 film “Jamba Lakidi Pamba,” directed by seasoned filmmaker EVV Satyanarayana, uses gender shuffling to represent “feminism,” a topic that was both novel and taboo at the time of its debut.
When asked who he believed would work best for the “Jamba Lakidi Pamba” remake, Naresh responded that DJ Tillu fame Siddhu would be a good fit. “Jamba Lakidi Pamba is a director’s film, no matter who the hero is, it is exclusively a director’s show”, he added.
Naresh also revealed a few fascinating details regarding his relationship with the late great filmmaker Jandhyala. “He is my brother, buddy, mentor, and father figure. He used to mentor me in both my professional and personal life. That’s why, at the time of his death, I had my head tonsured. I cherish Jandhyala garu to that extent,” Naresh said.
‘Choopulu Kalasina Subhavela’, ‘Bava Bava Panneeru’, ‘Rendu Jella Sita’ are some of the many movies Naresh acted in under Jandhyala’s direction.
