The Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC), Dil Raju, today announced that the guidelines for the Gaddar Awards have been finalized after multiple deliberations and meetings among concerned parties from the Telugu film industry. The state awards will make their debut with a grand function in April.
The government has decided to present the Gaddar Best Picture Award to one film every year from 2014 to 2023. Honorary awards in the names of Paidi Jayaraj and Kantha Rao would be introduced. While these are two new award categories, the rest of the categories correlate to Nandi Awards.
For the year 2024, Gaddar Awards will be given in multiple categories like Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Music Director, etc.
Dil Raju said that Urdu films will also be included in the awards category. The Nandi Awards didn’t include Urdu-language movies.
Films that promote national integration will also be recognized. Besides, children’s films, heritage films, environmental, and historical films will also be feted. Awards will be given for Animation, Documentary, Short Film, and Social Impact formats/categories as well.
Applications will be received within a week. The jury will be constituted by that time.
Dil Raju said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants Hyderabad to become an international film hub.
