After the blockbuster film HanuMan, the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe has become a force to reckon with. Director Prasanth Varma, in his capacity as a writer, today announced the third edition from the PVCU. Riwaz Ramesh Duggal is bankrolling a film titled Mahakali on RKD Studios.
To be directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, the film blends spiritual and mythical elements with contemporary issues. “This marks the first female superhero film coming from India, and is also the most ferocious superhero in the universe,” the makers added in a statement.
Set in Bengal (that’s why the Goddess Kali imagery), the film is touted to be an “epic journey of empowerment, faith, and resilience.” The Goddess Kali has been depicted as invincible in religious literature. The same is denoted by writer Prasanth Varma in his message.

Smaran Sai scores the music, while Sri Nagendra Tangala is the production designer. To be also made in IMAX 3D, the film will be released in Indian and foreign languages. “We are making ‘Mahakali’ as a movement towards inclusivity and representation,” the makers said.
