Mahesh Babu’s Athidhi is scheduled to be re-released in theatres on May 31st. The re-release has been scheduled to coincide with the birth anniversary of Superstar Krishna.
Originally released in 2007, the neo-noir action thriller film is directed by Surender Reddy. It is produced by G. Ramesh Babu, the elder brother of Mahesh. Co-starring Amrita Rao, it was one of the early films that familiarized Murali Sharma to the Telugu audience. Ashish Vidyarthi, who had by then done movies like Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh, played a key role.
Vakkantham Vamsi and Abburi Ravi, respectively, wrote the movie’s screenplay and dialogues. Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ajay, Nassar, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Ravi Prakash, Pragathi, Subbaraju and others played other roles.
Rathraina, an item song featuring Malaika Arora Khan, is a key feature of Athidhi.
Sainikudu was Mahesh Babu’s immediate release before Athidhi. Prior to this, Athadu and Pokiri were released. Athidhi was released worldwide with 500 prints in 820 theaters across the globe; it was one of the biggest releases for a southern Indian movie at that time.
