Maharaja, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi’s landmark 50th film, arrives in theaters today in Tamil and Telugu versions amid considerable excitement. Helmed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja is produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy.
Ajaneesh Loknath has tuned the musical part for Maharaja, while Dinesh Purushothaman has handled the cinematography.

Maharaja Storyline:
Vijay Sethupathi, who appears in the role of Maharaja, shines in his role. Introduced as a normal barber, who is living a pleasant life with his daughter Jyothi, Maharaja is a role with many other layers, that only unfold after he is robbed of an important part of his life.
One fateful day, Maharaja is attacked, and his Lakshmi is robbed. What happens next unfolds several other layers of the screenplay.
On-screen performances:
As usual, Vijay Sethupathi showcases his versatility in the role of Maharaja. Though his role is introduced as a pretty normal one, as the narrative establishes, it is multifold.
The antagonist in Maharaja, Anurag Kashyap, astounds with his outstanding performance. Nataraj, an actor, plays a cop quite well. Munishkath and Aruldoss both have compelling roles and strong performances.
Technical Aspects:
Maharaja marks director Nithilan Swaminathan’s second film. It offers an engaging plot, with interesting narration.
Dinesh Purushothaman has done a good job with his cinematography. Philomin Raj’s production qualities are good, and his editing is good.
The outstanding background score by Ajaneesh Loknath elevates poignant moments. The language and dubbing in Telugu are done really effectively.
End-note: Maharaja is a masterfully crafted tale of passion and revenge. The story is expertly crafted, and actors like Anurag Kashyap and Vijay Sethupathi have lived up to their parts.
