“What’s coming … is a whole different beast. Rs 58+ Crores worldwide gross through advance sales for L2: Empuraan,” the makers of Mohanlal’s much-awaited movie said today. The Prithviraj Sukumaran-directed political action thriller is on a rampage with its advance bookings. The stated figure is for the first weekend. The film hits the screens on March 27th in multiple languages.
The movie’s release is three days away. Already, the worldwide advance sales for Day 1 has crossed the Rs 40 Cr mark. “These numbers are on par with some big Hindi and Tamil films,” social media users are stating.
The craze is unprecedented. “Empuraan has already shattered almost all the Mollywood opening records from pre-sales in DOUBLE / TRIPLE MARGIN. Whatever is happening now is pure history—HISTORY IN THE MAKING! (sic),” stated AB George, a popular trade analyst.
The film is being released in North India by AA Films and by Hombale Films in Karnataka. In the Telugu States, it is being released by Dil Raju‘s Sri Venkateswara Creations. Recently, speaking in the presence of Mohanlal and Sukumaran, Dil Raju stated that L2: Empuraan is Malayalam industry’s moment. Like Baahubali, Pushpa, and KGF, it is on its way to soar the stamina of a regional film industry.
