A sequel to the 2019 hit Kaithi has been in the works lately. The project was finally made official on Saturday by director Lokesh Kanagaraj and actor Karthi. Titled Kaithi 2, the crazy project sees the coming together of Dream Warrior Pictures and KVN Productions on the production front. The latter is currently producing Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
Making the announcement, Karthi wrote, “Dilli Returns.” Dilli is the name of his character in the Kaithi series and the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. The character had a bit role in Kamal Haasan-Fahadh Faasil’s Vikram, the monster hit.

Kaithi’s story spanned a night. The nail-biting narration was amplified by Sam CS’ score and impeccable action choreography. Kaithi, who was seen in a cameo in Kanguva last year, was seen in Sathyam Sundaram, one of the most critically acclaimed movies in recent times.
Meanwhile, director Lokesh is helming Coolie, which will hit the screens later this year. Superstar Rajinikanth is joined by Akkineni Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan (in a cameo), Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and others. Pooja Hegde will sizzle in a special song in the movie.
