The comedy genre is witnessing a revival in the Telugu film industry, with comedy no longer being limited to comic acts in movies. There are dedicated movies focusing solely on melding comedy with a different genre. Recent movies like Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, Brochevarevarura and Mathu Vadalara are examples of comedy movies which the audience liked. Therefore when three of the biggest comedians in South India Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakarishna and Naveen Polishetty are coming together for Jathi Ratnalu, it is bound to be a laughter riot.
On December 26th, a first look for Naveen Polishetty was unveiled on the occasion of the actor’s birthday. However, the next day, the makers behind Jathi Ratnalu released a short promotional video of Naveen Polishetty’s character who is named as Jogipet Srikanth. The short video shows Naveen Polishetty in prison clothes trying to be intimidating but his actions during the physical work on prison grounds fail to match his intimidating stance earlier. Keerthy Suresh, who recently won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the movie Mahanati, will make a cameo appearance in Jathi Ratnalu. Jaathi Ratnalu is directed by a newcomer, Anudeep K.V. Radhan, who shot to fame with Arjun Reddy, as a music composer. Harsha Garapati and Nag Ashwin are jointly bankrolling the film under the banner Swapna Cinema.
Jathi Ratnalu will have music by Radhan and cinematography by Siddan Manohar. Faria Abdullah, Murali Sharma, Naresh V.K., Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani and Vennela Kishore make up the rest of the cast.
