The trailer of Jaat gives the impression that the best aspects of Telugu cinema’s larger-than-life action movies is now being exported to Bollywood. Sunny Deol’s introduction is preceded by the staging of the bestiality in the villain’s fiefdom, referred to as the metaphorical Lanka. He is the Ravana whom even gods fear, we are told.
In comes Sunny Deol’s Jaat. The saviour element is vivid. Randeep Hooda seems to be the most fearsome antagonist. Regina Cassandra and Ramya Krishna play a thug-like character and an official, respectively. Also featuring Jagapathi Babu, Saiyami Kher and Viineet Kumar Siingh, the film will hit the screens on April 10th.

Speaking at the launch event, actor Sunny Deol said that he totally believed in the vision of director Gopichand Malineni. He praised the film’s producer trio (Y Ravi Shankar, Naveen Yerneni, and TG Vishwa Prasad). “This film may be larger-than-life, but some of the incidents narrated resonate with reality.
“I love action films. I grew up watching Sunny Deol’s action movies. Damini (1993) is among my favourite movies. I want to reintroduce a certain brand of Sunny Deol to the audience all over again. The approach in Jaat is realistic while the sensibilities are commercial. ‘Sorry Bol’ is a commonly used phrase. In Jaat, we conceived a proper situation to justify the phrase,” director Gopichand stated.
