By doing this, the hard work involved in the films is rightfully utilized and paid for. Recently, the government has also realized the adverse financial effects of piracy and has created the Cinematograph Act 2023. The Union Cabinet approved revising the Cinematograph Act of 1952 and making the Cinematograph Amendment Bill 2023.
Today, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, spoke about this in the Lok Sabha. The Cinematograph Bill was already approved in the Rajya Sabha. Now the bill has also been approved by the Lok Sabha, making it a new, revised one to be followed and amended. This is a positive change for Indian films and is beneficial to those who work hard in front of and behind the camera. This bill will be beneficial to all in fighting against piracy and ensuring minimum government interference as the need to renew the license every 10 years is met.
