Arjun son of Vyjayanthi Telugu Movie Review Anything for mother's love

‘Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi’, produced by NTR Arts and Ashoka Arts, was released today in theatres. Let’s find out what the movie is about!

Story:

The story is set in Vizag, where law and order has gone for a toss because cops here get into top positions by bribing their way up the ranks. Arjun Vishwanath (Kalyan Ram), a vigilante, is the estranged son of a retired IPS officer named Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanti). Since Arjun has made himself ineligible to become an IPS officer, her mother can’t accept him. All hell breaks loose when Pathaan (Sohail Khan), a figure driven by a desire for vengeance against Vyjayanthi, sets foot on the land to finish the mother-son duo.

Analysis:

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s performance is effective. In terms of intensity, his acting is on a par with that in Bimbisara. After Devil and Amigos, the actor is back to his complete form. His scenes with a senior artist like Vijayashanthi feel wholesome. He puts aside his heroism in the presence of his mother’s character; and that’s so good to watch. The climax is where the duo’s acts attain a crescendo.

Sohel Khan should have got a couple of more scenes. His opening scene is conceived interestingly. This is also the phase where the film is mildly inspired by a KGF-style tempo-building. Saiee Manjrekar, as the hero’s loyal wife, is cool. Srikanth and Babloo Prithveeraj play cops. The latter turns into the hero’s aide in an emotional turn of events. As a conscientious cop who can’t orphan Arjun, the Animal actor proves his mettle.

Ajaneesh Loknath’s music is inspired by his own style and the trendy scores of Anirudh Ravichander (here and there). Naayaldhi is an absolute treat, complete with Sekhar VJ’s hook step. Ram Prasad’s cinematography is good. The editing by Thammiraju is vivid. Srikanth Vissa, who has worked on movies like Pushpa, has penned the screenplay.

Writer-director Pradeep Chilukuri doesn’t lose his focus anywhere. There are no deviations (except for the Sangeet song). The film’s much-vaunted final 20 minutes packs a punch.

The plot could have been tighter in the portions where Pathan and his sons negotiate with the system. In action dramas that involve a violent face-off between the system and the underworld, it is important to adhere to these power dynamics well.

Verdict:

A decent action drama fueled by Kalyan Ram’s powerful performance and gripping mother-son dynamic, though the antagonist’s arc could have been sharper.
