The Telugu film industry has seen many of its beloved actors transition from on-screen performances to funding stories behind the scenes as producers. Pawan Kalyan, Superstar Mahesh Babu, Nani, Nithiin, Vijay Deverakonda, Ravi Teja, and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, among others, have taken the plunge into production. In this section, we give you a snapshot of their productions.
Pawan Kalyan forayed into film production by making movies on PK Creative Works. Sardaar Gabbar Singh (2016) starred himself as the hero. Chal Mohan Ranga (2018) starred Nithiin and Megha Akash. It was co-produced by Trivikram Srinivas.
Mahesh Babu’s G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. started out with Srimanthudu. Brahmotsavam (2016) and Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020), both of which featured him in the lead role, followed. Major (2022), the Telugu-Hindi bilingual biographical film co-produced with others, was a blockbuster.
His Konidela Production Company made its debut with Khaidi No. 150 in 2017. It has since produced Sye Raa, Acharya and Godfather, besides distributing Rangasthalam and Godfather.
Nani:
D for Dopidi (2013), a heist comedy where Nani lent his name as a presenter, marked his baby steps into something bigger. Awe (2018), the critically acclaimed multi-narrative thriller, was produced by him under Wall Poster Cinema. More recently, Court became his banner’s biggest hit. He has also produced two movies under the HIT franchise. HIT 3 is gearing up for a theatrical release on May 1st.
Nithiin:
Nithin’s Shresht Movies, founded with his father Sudhakar Reddy, has produced Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013), Chinnadana Nee Kosam (2014), and Akhil (2015). Ishq, Maestro, Macherla Niyojakavargam, and ExtraOrdinary Man are among their other films, either produced on their own or in collaboration with others.
Vijay Deverakonda has produced Meeku Maathrame Cheptha (2019) under King of the Hill Entertainment. Pushpaka Vimanam (2021) followed.
Ravi Teja has produced Sundaram Master under RT Team Works. Gatta Kusthi, Ravanasura, and Changure Bangaru Raja are his other movies as a producer.
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram
NKR, under NTR Arts, has brought out Athanokkade (2005), Hare Ram (2008), Pataas (2015), Kick 2 (2015), Jai Lava Kusa (2017), Devara, among others. He is also producing Arjun S/o Vyjayanti.
