Pragya Jaiswal who has hit two milestones this year, with her movie Akhanda opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna and a musical romantic song, besides Salman Khan’s Main Chala gets into a candid Q&A with Telugu Film Nagar,
- How did you feel working with two big superstars in one year, Akhanda with Balakrishna sir and Main Chala with Salman Khan sir?
I think 2021 has been the best year of my life. With the pandemic, I wasn’t sure where the world was going, but now when I look back, I feel blessed and grateful to have worked with Balakrishna sir in Akhanda. It was such an amazing experience because I got to learn so much from him and what an amazing film I got to be a part of.
Working with Salman Sir was a dream come true for me. Who wouldn’t want to work with Salman Khan? So happy that 2021 has turned out so well and I just feel truly fortunate right now.
- Please share one moment you treasure from the sets with your costars?
One moment that left me awestruck while shooting for Akhanda was in Chennai. It was a temple sequence. It was so sunny that we couldn’t stand for even 5 minutes without an umbrella but Balakrishna Sir had stood there without his slippers and he never used an umbrella. He was there working for 6-7 hours straight, shooting for action sequences and it just was so inspiring to see him perform because he has a different kind of energy and passion when he embodies a character. There’s so much to learn from him and this was one of the instances that I’ll never forget.

With Salman Sir, it has to be the first day of the shoot. After finishing the first shot I went to the monitor and checked how it looked. Salman Sir was right beside me. He was so encouraging and sweet and said, “Pragya this is just the beginning of your many many more successful films”. This inspired me so much.
- How did you get the opportunity to work in Akhanda and the song Main Chala and what was in your mind when you heard the news?
I got a call from Boyapati Sir in November 2020. I always wanted to work with him because he’s one of the best directors down South. I didn’t think twice before I flew down to Hyderabad because I wanted to work with him for the brilliant director that he is. I auditioned for Main Chala in Mumbai in November 2020. Two months after the audition, I received a call from the team asking me to fly to Mumbai, while I was shooting for Akhanda. I was on cloud nine when I realized I was shooting for a song opposite Salman sir and before I even knew it, I was shooting for the song in Mahabaleshwar.
- What was your very first day of the shoot like? Do you remember what went through your mind at the time?
I was a little nervous on Akhanda’s first day of the shoot but Balakrishna sir was very warm and welcoming towards me and that instantly put me at ease.
Working with Salman sir was easier than I assumed it would be. Not once did I feel I was working opposite a huge superstar. We were just two co-stars working together.
- What are your plans or any movies coming in this year?
I have a few projects in the pipeline and I will surely disclose more information when I can.
- Besides movies and your busy schedules, what do you do in your free time/ how does your daily routine go?
In my free time, I love listening to music, travelling, dancing, spending time with friends, family, fitness, meeting new people, and interacting. I have varied interests and I try to keep myself engaged during my free time.
- Who is that person who you always rely on or the person who you talk to as soon as there’s something to talk about and why?
I don’t have a person like that, but if I had to choose one, I would say, my mom . Anything goes wrong, I go to my mom and I have a couple of my friends who I go to but it’s based on what I want to talk about. I go to different people based on what my concern or problem is.
- When you feel like running away from the world, which place do you go to? And why?
When I feel like running away from the world I choose to spend time with myself reflecting and introspecting why I feel this way and somewhere during this process I find my peace and that is my comfort zone, which helps me relax and calm myself around the hectic life.
Pragya Jaiswal has greatly impressed us all with her amazing performances on screen. We wish her all the success and the best for her upcoming projects.
