Superstar Mahesh Babu’s classic family entertainer Murari (2001) is all set for its grand re-release on his August 9, as a part of Mahesh’s birthday celebrations. As the re-release date approaches, the excitement around the movie has multiplied.
Renowned filmmaker Nandini Reddy, who served as Assistant Director for cutting-edge filmmaker Krishna Vamsi, recalled her experiences during the Murari filming. According to Nandini Reddy, who gives Krishna Vamsi all the credit for Murari, this masterpiece is solely Vamsi’s vision.
Nandini Reddy stated, “Krishna Vamsi Garu started with a hectic schedule. During the first week itself we all got so tired as we worked round the clock. Then after a few days, we all got some relaxation”.
Along with discussing how she had worked with designer Manish Malhotra on the costumes, Nandini Reddy also discussed how difficult it is for the costume department to maintain coordination when so many artists are involved in the majority of the sequences.
“Krishna Vamsi never made any concessions. We had to change costumes of actors quickly in order to fit the shot. We had to alter the outfits of every other actor in accordance with any changes made to Sonali’s. It was really difficult,” she said.
Intriguingly, Nandini Reddy also revealed that the assistant directors had previously clashed with the hospitality staff and had, as a result, boycotted from the filming. “We got into a quarrel over the Ramachandrapuram accommodation where we shot Murari. Assistant directors had so withheld from the film’s filming for a whole day. That day, Krishna Vamsi Garu shot every scene without our presence. That’s another matter entirely, he schooled us later,” she remarked.

“Mahesh Babu, Sonali, and everyone on the sets were so friendly, that it appeared like we were all some college-going youth,” Nandini Reddy remarked, referring to how everyone connected over the movie.
“Mahesh Garu is so grounded that his presence still creates the same type of awe.”
Nandini Reddy lauded all the technicians and actors who were a part of MURARI, as she vows to watch the movie’s re-release on August 9.
The Mahesh Babu Foundation, which has provided charitable medical care for thousands of children with heart-related issues, will make use of the revenues from the re-release of the MURARI movie.
