Vijay Deverakonda about Kingdom: 'Multiple layers and elements will open up to the audience'

Addressing the media today, Vijay Deverakonda and producer S Naga Vamsi asked the audience to set their expectations right from Kingdom, set to be released in theatres this Thursday (July 31st). Contrary to the belief some might have that the film will transport the audience into a war zone, it will be high on drama and emotion. Action is just a backdrop. Kingdom is a film from the director who made Jersey and Malli Rava, Naga Vamsi said. The makers are elated about the advance bookings so far. These days, getting solid openings itself is a big deal. We are through on that front, the producer commented. This story was written for Vijay. That's what the director Gowtam Tinnanuri told me when he met me the first time to pitch the story, Naga Vamsi revealed. Vijay said that he is calm and content. This morning, I went to the gym as a routine, he remarked. That said pressure is a part of life, the actor added. I have always taken decisions on the go. I did want to attain fame and make money. But I was not sure beyond that. The Arjun Reddy actor emphasized that Kingdom is for every audience member who books a ticket to watch it. Any battle in history has been for things like love and land. Kingdom stays true to that emotion. This is a multi-layered story with a family drama element. The LTTE hasn't been referenced to even though the story takes place in Sri Lanka. The story is set during the organization's time, though. Many layers you haven't seen so far will open up to you while you watch the movie, the Geetha Govindam actor assured. Actors give their best every time. If some performances click with the audience, it's because of the efforts put in by others. In the case of Kingdom, credit goes to Gowtam, Anirudh and the two cinematographers, Vijay said.
