Mega Prince Varun Tej is all set to surprise audiences with a completely new avatar in his upcoming film #VT15, now officially titled Korean Kanakaraju (KOKA). Helmed by the inventive filmmaker Merlapaka Gandhi and produced by UV Creations along with First Frame Entertainment, the film blends horror and comedy with an intriguing cross-cultural backdrop.
Unveiled as a special birthday treat for Varun Tej, the title glimpse offers a thrilling sneak peek into a world that oscillates between spooky tension and dark humor. Mounted on a lavish scale, the film spans Indian and Korean landscapes, promising rich visuals and high production values.
The glimpse opens on a tense note, with Korean police interrogating Satya’s character, who introduces himself as a professional photographer from Penukonda in Ananthapur district. The mood instantly turns ominous as the name Kanakaraju surfaces. Enter Ritika Nayak, who hints at the terrifying presence the cops are desperately searching for.
What follows is a chilling montage—bats swarming under a blood-red moon, eerie imagery of a dragon figure, and an atmosphere soaked in dread. The calm breaks when Varun Tej storms into the frame as Kanakaraju, wielding a knife, clad in a rugged lungi, sporting wild hair and striking Trident–Damaruk tattoos. His piercing blue eyes and fierce demeanor establish a menacing presence unlike anything seen before in his career.
As Satya’s character ominously urges, “Whistle for him,” chaos erupts. A brutal knife attack unfolds, with the weapon bearing Korean inscriptions. Kanakaraju finally declares, “I’m back,” in Korean, as the title Korean Kanakaraju (KOKA) flashes on screen—sealing the impact.
Director Merlapaka Gandhi once again showcases his flair for unique storytelling, seamlessly mixing humor, action, and horror into a gripping teaser that leaves viewers wanting more. Varun Tej’s transformation stands out as a bold reinvention, while Satya delivers his trademark comic timing with ease.
