'Varanasi': Rajamouli, Vijayendra Prasad suggest Mahesh Babu will reveal his superlative performance

SS Rajamouli and writer Vijayendra Prasad provided electrifying insights into their highly anticipated global adventure film, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, during the grand "Globe Trotter" event held today. The director revealed details about a mythological episode in the film, while the writer promised a spectacular 30-minute action sequence. Rajamouli Stunned by Mahesh Babu's 'Rama' Avatar Speaking about the monumental scale of the new project, Rajamouli shared a personal anecdote that revealed his initial surprise and eventual awe over Mahesh Babu's portrayal of a divine character. "We had Mahesh Babu in Lord Rama role for the first day of photo shoot," Rajamouli stated. "I thought Mahesh would be more appropriate for Krishna role. But he proved me wrong." The shooting of this specific segment was an epic in itself. "We shot this Rama episode for 60 days. There are so many sub episodes in it," Rajamouli confirmed, predicting the sequence will achieve legendary status. "It will be most memorable sequence in my films and Mahesh films." Mahesh Babu's 'Viswaroopam' Promised Writer V. Vijayendra Prasad, who penned the story, hinted at a divine cinematic experience for the audience. "Sometimes you come across a divine moment," the Baahubali writer remarked, describing the impact of the film's core action block. He revealed that the film features an intense, half-hour-long action episode. "There is 30 minute action episode in this film. I could see Mahesh Babu viswaroopam in this film," using the term that signifies the 'universal form' of a deity, suggesting an unprecedented, spectacular portrayal of the actor. Varanasi, to be released in theatres in Summer 2027 , has dialogues written by Deva Katta. Srinivas Mohan is the VFX Supervisor, King Solomon is the action director, and PS Vinod is the cinematographer. MM Keeravani is the music director.
